Design bookshop by Mendo, Amsterdam

May 30th, 2011 by retail design blog

When you are in Amsterdam and you love design, MENDO has to be on your list! This design bookshop is one of the most inspiring shops in town with books about architecture, fashion, photography, interior- and graphic design. They also have an amazing collection of XL books, e.g. of David LaChapelle, Muhammad Ali (GOAT), Peter Beard, Michael Polizi, The F1 Opus, Valentino en Vivienne Westwood.

It’s not only the great collections of books that make it a visit worthwhile. The concept of a store filled with creative books has been the starting point of their design. Like a house made of bricks, the shop is built by plain, black, custom-made MENDO books (2,000 have been used). The thought behind is that these plain books will make the other books stand out. Concrete, a renowned Dutch design agency, is responsible for the design.
