December 23rd, 2011 by retail design blog

Louis Vuitton’s new Australian flagship store finally opens to public today in Sydney – The Sydney George Street “Maison” will be the 13th of its kind globally and only the 2nd store to offer a luxury personalised custom service, previously only available in Milan.

“Even before Paris, before New York or London or Tokyo, Sydney has been chosen,” global CEO Yves Carcelle said at the VIP launch. “You (Sydney) represent a significant market. You are forever a centre of attraction for high-end tourists from all this part of the world. The City of Sydney deserves what we call a Fifth Avenue of New York.”

The Louis Vuitton George Street Maison, understood to have cost almost $10 million, is vastly larger than the previous Castlereagh Street Sydney store opened in 1986. Offering three-storeys of men’s and women’s fashion as well as a VIP room for personalised services. The “Made to Order” service will allow customers to personalise and custom build handbags, shoes and belts.
