PHARMACIES! Apotheek by CAAN Architects, Sint-Martens-Latem – Belgium

April 7th, 2012 by retail design blog

This spectacularly simple pharmacy is located in Sint-Martens-Latem, Belgium along a lush road where the simplicity and stark grey brick stand out amongst nature. Built and designed by CAAN Architects, Apotheek is hopefully a new wave in pharmacy design.

When open, the front window turns into a big green pharmacy symbol as the giant sliding door transforms the space from open to closed. The ground floor of this space is a pharmacy called “Apotheek” while the basement serves as a small lab and the first floor is an apartment.

Though the exterior is lined in glass, the interior is perfectly appointed with the right amount of minimalistic displays that are backlit to showcase the (sometimes not so beautiful) product in a beautiful way.
