Paul Smith’s collections had been available for many years at depositories scattered across the Netherlands, but now the brand steps up its presence here with a store of its own on Amsterdam’s luxury shopping strip. The store measures 180 sqm. spread over two floors and a series of interlinking rooms.

The façade is clad in a mix of stone and timber, hinting the store’s modern interior with a whimsical classic twist. The front section features the men’s + women’s shoe collection in traditional dark wooden cabinets, followed by the men’s mainline area with an eye-catching luxurious cabinet and paintings by british artist Nigel O’Neill. The back section of the store is the exclusive domain of Paul Smith womenswear and the vibe changes accordingly here.

Inspired by the early 19th-century Wiener Werkstätte, the room is lined with brass rails and illuminated by an expansive skylight adorned with an intricately designed wooden structure inspired by traditional lace. A staircase situated in the centre of the shop, and right below an art wall decorated with photographs, art and curios from Paul Smith’s life, leads shoppers to the basement area. Amidst walnut and brass panels raised above an antique bourgogne limestone floor, showcased here are men’s suiting, shirting and knitwear.
