HAIRDRESSER! Jenny House beauty salon by DiCesare Design, Seoul

April 15th, 2012 by retail design blog

Jenny House is a VIP luxury beauty salon sited in Seoul (Korea). This is the restyle of the first shop (there are three in all). The location is in the heart of the VIP district of CheongDam (GangNam Gu), next to the most famous fashion shops. The beauty salon is developed on two floors with an additional floor for the offices and the terrace on the roof, for private parties and special events.

The third floor is mostly dedicated to the wedding services (hair styling, make-up, dressing room, meeting room); the forth floor is dedicated to the standard services (hair styling, nail design, head and foot spa). Each floor has a huge space for waiting and enjoy a drink watching television or reading magazines.

The concept is based on the myth of Narcisus, the legendary guy whose beauty was acknowledge everywhere in the ancient Greece. The legend tells about Narcisus as a beautiful guy loved by every girl, even by the nymphs who used to live in the fairy forest. Narcisus used to look at himself reflected on the water of the lake. Here starts our story; a beautiful face built by mdf panels laser-cut.

The face is reflected on the opposite black mirror, like a dark water pool in the forest. And all around is the forest that we recreated with organic shapes that hold the mirrors. And a big waving tree in the middle that is functionally used as a sitting area. The white, the smooth shaped metal ribbons, the reflections on mirrors; the general atmosphere is the one of a wonderland.

On the third floor, the space dedicated to wedding, the white and the pink recreate the pure environment that welcome the bride. A 10 meters long wall is decorated with a double layer of laser-cut metal panel that interact with light giving always a moving impression.
