An pop-up shoe shop in Istanbul, Turkey, boasts an artisan approach in both its products and the intricacy of its modular shelving system. The space is filled with hand-made shoes displayed on a custom-designed flexible units. Featuring A-shaped grid patterns, the mix of horizontal, vertical and angled lines creates a transfixing effect. The shelves can be shifted according to needs, thus creating a variety of display solutions.

‘Through repetition and variation of a strong element, we intended to create a memorable graphical effect that attracts attention,’ says designer Yeşim Bakırküre of Ypsilon Tasarim. Small niches hold the service desk and offer areas to sit and try on shoes. ‘These subtractions and additions are considered significant opportunities to soften or derange the perception of the system,’ Bakırküre explains. The shop is located in the Kanyon Shopping Centre and will be open for eight months only.
