As the luxury corridor moves up Madison Avenue with the influx of contemporary brands calling the avenue home, eyewear designer Robert Marc’s new shop at Madison Avenue & 88th Street continues to build upon the brand’s 30 years of success in the NYC luxury arena. Robert Marc operates 8 successful shops throughout the most desirable neighborhoods of Manhattan. The new store concept reflects the Upper East Side neighborhood it resides in, the Robert Marc clientele’s discerning taste, and the highly-tailored craftsmanship that the brand has become synonymous with.

“The brand has always been about offering elegance from an authentic place, which our new retail design delivers,” says president and eyewear designer, Robert Marc. “The new store relates to a relaxed sense of luxury and features custom made furniture, display cases and cabinetry inspired by classic American mid-century modern design. Our new retail concept creates an engaging experience in a neighborhood setting where the eyewear shines.”

The store’s 600 square foot space is outfitted with a white Carrera tile floor, soft grey leather upholstered furnishings, and built-in and freestanding fixtures in a deep stained walnut, all offset by touches of burnished brass, polished nickel, and smoked gray glass. The store’s pale grey palette exists underneath a dramatic, modern chandelier with seeded glass globes and over-scaled nickel and brass wall mirrors. Pronounced custom glass shelving and private viewing desks align Robert Marc’s beautifully designed eyewear as the focal point of the retail experience.

“It was our intention to create a space that reflects the quality, craftsmanship, and beautiful materials of the Robert Marc eyewear collection,” says architect and interior designer S. Russell Groves, who has designed retail spaces for luxury giants such as Ann Taylor, Blanc de Chine, Coach, Giorgio Armani, Neiman Marcus, and Tiffany & Co. Groves is credited for bringing Robert Marc’s new store’s casually elegant aesthetic to life. Robert Marc at 1225 Madison Avenue is open seven days a week and is currently selling the Robert Marc collection for 2012 –Deep Sea Waters, inspired by the scattered hues of the ocean floor. The collection features acetate frames in tones of purple, turquoise and green, stylishly contrasted with tortoise shell.
