The sumptuous new fitout for Redcurrent is set in a warehouse space in and the brief was to provide backdrops, introduce key features to showcase the exquisite treats and treasures on display and bring the brand into the next decade. The business has been built on being unique and unusual. The inspiration for our scheme was that “Redcurrent is your chance to dream. Daydream in vivid colours… with fragrances and treats for people you most treasure. Welcome!”

The 230m² of retail space (plus 100m² back of house) is at the top of a long entry ramp (our biggest challenge was to get customers to enter!), the key was to turn heads in the street, and provide an irresistible glimpse into Redcurrent’s world – a vintage and contemporary mix of gift and homeware. Our idea was to showcase the treasures by creating a series of dramatic spaces, and with the use of rich and enticing hues of gem-like pink. Colour and materials are inspired by the Redcurrent brand, and the alluring pinks were used to add a sense of vibrancy, fun and youthfulness, whilst appealing to a wide range of ages.

The shopfront windows glow day and night with a Hexaben honeycomb screen in translucent alluring pinks, and neon signage logo and blade sign. The dramatic entry wall of pink-on-pink stripes over mouldings, with traditional veranda post and balustrades bring some quirks to this heritage detailing. All new track metal halide spot lighting helps create drama and stage like scenes in store and windows.

The warm Valencia Walnut melamine joinery is a mix of cubbyholes with white cutout “doily” and “bedheads” displays which read very strongly against dark painted brick walls. Plush Maharaja Lipstick fabric lampshades with fluorescent fringes help define the Baby area, and oval framed mirrors hang on white chain with lion head fixings over the Jewellery table. Our client tells us that turnover has increased significantly, and customers are stopping in their tracks to enter.
