This project was to design and build a flagship headquarters for Uspa, combining their head office with a retail outlet, day-spa and professional training facility. The Melbourne (Australia) owned company locally produces organic skincare and spa products for the global market. The design of the retail space strongly reflects Uspa’s philosophy to create a sense of wellbeing and harmony using the best from nature.

The uspa interior uses raw materials, organic tones and textures to evoke a sense of wellbeing and harmony. A seven-metre long, cocoon-shaped light sculpture made from willow reeds casts shards of light around the room, which has been decorated with hand beaten iron sticks and twigs. A wrought iron balustrade, shaped like a tree, connects the shop to the day spa upstairs. Cantilevered timber shelving, limestone walls, a natural bluestone hearth and recycled tallowood flooring create a simple, natural aesthetic.
