The new standalone ‘schuh kids’ store concept Briggs Hillier have created for footwear retailer schuh, is home to some of the coolest branded kids footwear in the market, targeted at boys and girls from baby to pre-teenagers. The concept takes some design cues from the ‘schuh’ store concept and sits happily alongside it, although schuh kids has been developed to have its own distinct identity.

There are many unique features, including the merchandising system that accommodates a range of components that transform the look and feel, creating distinct departments. A new family of midfloor furniture has been created which is light and airy and designed at a scale to reflect the product range. In addition, individual pod seats in the shape of ‘arrowheads’ can be placed individually or brought together in many different configurations to create bright, colourful banks of seating.

The store includes a strong graphic treatment with bespoke, character based illustrations. For boys and girls the theme is inspired by the doodles you may find in a school exercise book and a blackboard design has been applied in the ‘little ones’ area to complete the look. The first 3 schuh kids stores in Liverpool, Glasgow and Essex are located next door to schuh stores, although this will not always be the case as schuh kids will operate independently with their own entrance, staff and management team.
