Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina is located in the up-and-coming harbour district of downtown Reykjavik. The 108-room hotel is centrally located for all the capital’s attractions with a backdrop of majestic Mount Esja and the beautiful Faxafloi Bay. The hotel is uniquely located next to Reykjavik dry dock, where you can almost touch the vessels that are being worked on when walking towards the main entrance of the hotel.

The design of the hotel is colorful and trendy. All designs, furniture’s and fixtures are specially manufactured and built in Iceland. The current look and design of the hotel is built on the history of the house but the building at Myrargata 2-8 has accommodated various businesses and activities through the years such as a paint factory and a service building for the Dry-Dock.

In short, the design is a mixture of modern design mixed with vintage items and antiques from the surrounding of the Dry Dock and Icelandic design. Essentially the roughness is mixed with the finesse and the result is a quirky, colorful and fun design.

Another fun element is the colorful text boards placed throughout the hotel, in the hotel rooms, bathrooms etc. The text is an informal dialogue with the guests which is referring to the history of the house and its surroundings but is also encouraging the guests to come downstairs and listen to stories and songs with locals and perhaps in the process the guests might meet some new friends.
