Bread & Butter Berlin 2013 Winter – ORIGINAL PENGUIN

February 28th, 2013 by retail design blog

In 1955, the Minneapolis based company, Munsingwear introduced the first iconic golf shirt to America. The story goes..One of Munsingwear’s salesmen spotted a stuffed penguin in the window of a New York taxidermist – and bought one of the birds. Before long, the penguin became the official mascot of the golf shirt.

In the 50’s and 60’s Original Penguin was worn by everybody from sporting hero’s to celebrities such as Bob Hope, Bing Crosby & Arnold Palmer. Today Original Penguin has evolved into a complete lifestyle brand. Original Penguin combines 1950’s heritage with classic American sportswear always with a witty & ironic twist.
