POP-UP STORES! COS pop-up concept store by Remy Clémente & Morgan Maccari, Milan

May 15th, 2013 by retail design blog

French duo Remy Clémente and Morgan Maccari, known as Bonsoir Paris, showed this pop-up concept store for Swedish clothing brand COS in Milan. Like the brand, the focus was on rational simplicity and function, a refreshingly low-key contrast to Design Week installations that aimed to dazzle with lights, colour and movement.

The display, which wrapped its way around columns of a pared down warehouse space in Ventura Lambrate, was a modular design based on a network of atoms. Realising that the repetitive system of an atom and its connections has great flexibility and can scale up or down easily, the pair adopted its geometry to create different ways of displaying pieces from the new collection. The system also means the display can be dismantled easily and moved from place to place.

The identical ‘atoms’or nodes which connect the parts of the display system, are made by reactive injection moulding. They act as connection points for bars with notches to hang clothing from, or nets made with vinyl string.
