Mira Moon hotel by Wanders & yoo, Hong Kong

June 3rd, 2013 by retail design blog

The Mira Moon hotel in Hong Kong, designed under the creative direction of Marcel Wanders (Wanders & yoo), will open its doors in August. The 91-bedroom hotel is inspired by China’s Moon Festival fairytale – a story written bold through the design of the hotel’s vivid and whimsical spaces.

Exaggerated forms and colours that reference the busy Wan Chai streetscape outside are mixed with more delicate depictions of flowers in carpets and on walls. Cut mirror-glass, decorative wooden panels and glazed ceramics nod to traditional Chinese artistry while the overall effect remains firmly from this century.
