The book from Hangar Design Group opens a window onto the creative inspiration which has consistently inspired the studio’s thirty-year project. A bird’s eye view of passion for design and for the freedom of the formal research that guides it. A representative view not so much of the many works generated – spanning the areas of graphics, architecture, web design, interior design – but of the creative process underlying each one of these.

A complex collective personality emerges throughout these pages, on the constant lookout for suggestions, signs, visions capable of insp iring design. This search has brought the studio to the point where it now has an international presence in the big metropolitan centres of creativity, where it has gleaned new ideas by cross-fertilisation with contrasting creative environments and by encountering notable figures including, to mention just a few, Milton Glaser, Alvaro Siza, or Gabriele Basilico. The book is therefore conceived as an “open” work providing a photographic record of the continuing tension that exists between inspiration and realisation, design and final product.

“The creative process is nourished from the ideas, suggestions and visions of the group as a whole, generating a creative buzz which quickly takes over the whole work environment, is reflected in relations with customers, and generates new designs: whether it is a bottle of mineral water or a mobile home, a technical lamp or a fashion campaign.”

Architects and designers, the creatives at Hangar Design Group have devised logos, furniture, architectural interiors, sales outlets, mobile homes, communications campaigns for Italian and foreign brands from the Peggy Guggenheim Collection to Ferrarelle. The book presents fragments, stills, suggestions and true glimpses of life lived in accordance with a passion for a visionary calling.
