If you liked what Dave had on, he’d just take it off and give it to you. That’s how his friend Mike Doyle remembers getting the first pair of Original Jams surfing in Pokai Bay and that’s how he sold them to just about everyone. If you felt the love wearing them, you’d feel the love he had creating them.

Original Jams was founded in that spirit. Dave Rochlen fell in love with the water, with Hawaii and with a woman named Keanuenue, who helped turn a pair of cut-off pajamas into bright, baggy, Hawaiian-printed shorts unlike any other. Once they were spotted at the 1964 Makaha International Surfing Championships, their color and comfort soon made them a symbol of freedom and fun worldwide. Live what you love, every day.
