After almost two years of the opening of their first restaurant in Paseo Shopping Zona Sul in Porto Alegre, OAK’s California Burritos opened in August 2012 its latest branch in Moinhos de Vento. Given the success of a cali-mex culinary experience in an environment classified as fast-casual, the new OAK should rescue the identity of its first restaurant, bringing a more fun and relaxed theme to match the style of the target audience, mostly young.

Housed in a property listed as a Historic and Cultural building (EPAHC), the architectural and visual communication had to adapt to the house’s original design, which could not suffer any kind of intervention. The new environment explores the essence of the OAK brand, contributing to a verbal language that has been consolidated by the consumers themselves. Thus the environment establishes links with the public through texts, images and sound.

The project has adopted some sustainable initiatives: all the furniture was made from scrap wood; internal visual communication uses recycled and recyclable materials, lighting was made with LEDs in a low-power system, and the exhaust system transforms the kitchen waste into water vapor. This whole set of elements contributes to the construction of a sensorial experience where all senses are somehow impacted.

The restaurant reached the maturity needed to start an expansion process, targeting cities such as São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The neighborhood Moinhos de Vento receives a new culinary attraction.
