Pedal Chic is a bike shop for women with sales and rentals, also featuring chic riding apparel and other fashion accessories. Pedal Chic is in a metro/downtown setting. Client needed a complete refresh/face-lift that would improve the store appearance and shoppability for an upcoming TV guest spot on the Today Show.
The Project Challenge:
Complete conceptual designs and retrofit within two weeks. Get approval quickly and begin construction asap. No control or coordination with electricians and other trades. Expectations from first time industry client was challenging.
The new runway display allows the product to be viewed higher like at a fashion show, rather than looking down at the product. It also maximizes display space with shelving along the sides. The white coloring works to draw the viewer into the depths of the narrow store. Pendant lighting was added to accentuate the runway, and highlight bikes and mannequins in a lifestyle setting. Lights were specified, ordered by us and furnished to the electrician for installation.
Clear communication before and during the project was critical for this project in order to get completed on time. Continuous coordination with the client was necessary for the entire two weeks because design manufacturing and on site work was happening all in real-time. Having tactical designer’s on site as the work progressed made the collaboration process quicker and allowed the first time clients experience to be less stressful.
The windows were designed to be optimized for night-time viewing from the street. The floating bicycle vignette, is engaging and clearly communicates daytime use. Which is when most people ride.
