Mutiny bamboo pendants by Liam Petrie-Allbutt of Antelope

September 10th, 2013 by retail design blog

‘Mutiny’ is the first stunning range of luminaire design from Antelope. Designer Liam Petrie-Allbutt draws from his former timber boat building roots and passion for the Victorian coastline. Inspired by hand-crafted European furniture, the elegant design and attention to detail is a breath of freshness to the Australian Lighting Industry.

KEY FEATURES:
1. The beautiful timber form is complimented by striking grills that perform with light. The timber cage aesthetic is balanced by a generous amount of light-play that is projected on surrounding surfaces. Complimented by an efficient 6.5 watt Panasonic Nostalgic Globe (incandescent aesthetic).

2. The material specification for a light natural bamboo was a drive for sustainability. Plantation bamboo and non-toxic glue lamination provide the perfect benchmark for Australian luminaire design. The bamboo provides a unique and ideal lighting aesthetic for which our local rainforest hardwoods will thank us.

3. Local manufacturing is the key ingredient to this design mix. Supporting Melbourne’s business’ and benefiting from our local finest.
A depth of knowledge developed through life long careers with hand crafting, and sculpting. Craftsmanship offers a new era for the local ’designer,’ and the ’unique’ design. Beating the replica Chinese market, as we embrace the honest and skilled Australian labour.
