Konami is a leading global developer, publisher and manufacturer of electronic entertainment properties, specialising in the home video game market. Looking for a long term home, Konami decided to relocate from Chiswick to Leworth House (8,000 sq ft) and Morgan House (6,000 sq ft) in Windsor. As part of their expansion, the new offices were to accommodate the Frankfurt office relocating from Germany as well as staff visiting from Japan and the US.
Area Sq Designer, Alex Marrs comments, “Konami wanted to achieve a quintessentially English feel to the office design, in-keeping with Windsor’s traditional heritage, whilst incorporating their playful brand identity and reaffirming their keen stance on employee wellbeing. To this end, we worked with Windsor’s town planners and gave the scheme a traditional feel, sympathetic to the conservation area in which the building is located.”
The Area Sq team worked closely with Konami’s artists to develop wall graphics in-line with their gaming products, such as Metal Gear Solid. Alex adds, “This helped to inject colour, life and fun into the scheme, making the space their own.” The office design and fit-out included fully integrated audio visual and video conferencing facilities, meeting suites, a ‘pub-style’ breakout space for staff and life-size action figures from their gaming products. Designer furniture was supplied by Area Sq’s sister company, Sketch Studios.
