The Flower market is in the center of the city and is a major tourist hub, but also in the hearts of the Amsterdammers. The store itself is designed as a tribute to the location. The inspiration comes from the Flower market and the Canal houses.

It’s classical with a twist, combining green marble, which you find in the Canal houses but also in flower shops, with vintage lamps, chairs and wood, concrete and the typical white tiles ( witjes ). The artwork is of course about the coffee plant and we even have the real coffee plants in the window. Behind the back bar is a collection of vintage glass jars which we fill up with flowers.

The Starbucks Design team for Europe, Africa and Middle East works with a group of nearly 40 designers and architects in Amsterdam and London. Starbucks’ new store designs are not based on a ‘roll out’ model anymore, but they design each store individually taking inspiration from local culture. They scan the city, the street, the community to see what is relevant which makes the store look different. Of course the take away for their customers will always be consistent. Great product, great service in a great environment. They like to connect.
