For the debut edition of Art Basel Hong Kong, Swire Properties presents ‘Connection’, an installation and lounge by local studio Marc & Chantal, which draws reference from the city’s dense urban fabric and hidden corridors. The lounge features more than 170 architectural miniatures suspended in mid-air, a reflection of the abundant building facades lining the streets of Hong Kong. Vivid images of the metropolis landscape and public spaces can be viewed from inside these hanging modules.

The 23-metre long structure offers visitors an imagined view from beneath a rich network of interconnected environments – the bridges, courtyards, tunnels and walkways that are an intrinsic part of daily life in the growing metropolitan district. The installation creates a journey of hidden avenues that reveal the restless energy that permeates and blurs the boundary of public and private spaces.
