Simple Simon Design popped up on the radar of Mission Burrito owners Jan and Sharon Rasmussen after the Bath agency did a top job on a neighbouring restaurant, so when time came for a new Mission outlet, they knew just who to call.

Mission Burrito was born in the UK following the Rasmussens’ lengthy spell living in working in San Francisco. Taking its name form the city’s Mission District, the burrito chain has already successfully spread the word in Oxford, Reading, Bath and Bristol. Now spicing up Cardiff too, Mission displays its roots proudly with a great graphic showing the San Francisco neighbourhoods.

Simple Simon wanted to give the fresh ingredients some face-time and the kitchen greets the customer on entry, to the right of the counter fronted by some neat tiling that continues in quieter fashion on the floor. Drunk students looking for a kebab should be put straight by the light feature beaming out from the far wall, although there are warning signs outside too, where a handy overhang from upstairs created an al fresco dining area.
