It’s full speed ahead for Indonesia’s luxury market, and nowhere is this development better reflected than in the country’s capital Jakarta. There’s a steady influx of premium and high-end brands, catering to a growing, voracious middle class. The latest designer brand to set up shop here is Paul Smith. Located on the ground floor at Plaza Senayan, a massive upscale mall complex in South Jakarta, shoppers are greeted by the shop’s polished plaster façade in a bright blue shade. It occupies a sizeable single-level unit of 111 sqm. [1,195 sq.ft.] spread over three rooms.

Highlights of blue reference the façade, and together with modern seating by american designer Harvey Probber, provide an appealing contrast with the antique limestone floor in the shoes + accessories room. Two framed archways lead through to two separate rooms, both featuring oak timber flooring and walls clad in textured panels. Each space features original designs: a light pendant in the men’s room and a large ottoman right next door. The new Paul Smith store currently stocks items from the brand’s s/s 2014 collections.
