Strategic retail design consultancy Green Room has recently completed a store design project for fashion brand Timberland, which see’s their Glasgow flagship store refreshed, revitalised and reimagined.

The Timberland Glasgow Flagship store is situated in a listed property on Buchanan Street. The brief challenged us to build upon the latest marketplace evolution, whilst reinforcing the authenticity and heritage of the Timberland brand. Through bespoke design elements, Green Room designed and delivered an innovative store design including retail interiors, store windows and exterior signage.

As the space is located within a listed property, we wanted to create an exterior that respected this heritage as well as that of the Timberland brand. The signage was updated to hot-rolled steel with the classic, white brand logo; making it distinctive from neighbouring stores. This branding was repeated with vinyl signage above the entrance and illuminated logos in the windows.
In store, it was important for Timberland to target men, women and children within one retail space. The entrance atrium brought these three ranges together with hero product presentation, before separating into three distinct sections.

Building on the recognised brand heritage, the store design included brick work and neutral detailing. Not only did this reflect and respect the heritage of the building, it also reflected the Timberland brand. The stores bespoke design features included the window, entrance and stairwell; all of which helped to highlight the key products, guide the customer journey, and promote the brand values.

As Timberland is such a well-established brand, we included design elements such as history plaques located within the store, and a timeline graphic on the stairwell wall. This was constructed out of coloured piping and not only told the brand story but also drove footfall upstairs. Rustic timeline panels were hung off this fixture, further adding to the overall feel of the store.

The overall store design for the Timberland Glasgow Flagship perfectly reflected and respected the heritage of the brand and featured the latest retail design techniques, all whilst responding to the challenges created by the listed building.
