Mozilla YVR had a strong concept driven design approach that first sought to understand who the client was and how they intended to use their space. Culturally speaking this client had different expectations for their space than the typical office tenant and required a rethinking of how one approaches the design of office space. There would be no receptionist, no corner offices and a focus on spaces that reinforced collaboration between individuals and teams.

The design process lead to a solution where meeting rooms and support spaces were internalized and the open plan workstations were distributed at the exterior of the floor plate. This strategy freed up the perimeter zone giving unobstructed access to daylight, air and views to everyone. Chalkboard walls, pin up spaces and formal and informal meeting spaces are arranged such that the collaborative culture of the client reinforced.
