BMW i8 x Louis Vuitton luggage set

Future owners of BMW’s i8 plug-in hybrid sports car will be a discerning bunch. Rather than opting for the obvious Porsche 911, they’ll have bought into a progressive, innovative vehicle which plays as much on economical gains as it does outright performance.

It’d be a shame, then, to sling any old beat-up luggage in the back when taking their first road trip in the car. That’s where masters of the craft Louis Vuitton come in, the fashion house designing a tailor-made luggage set for the i8 sports car. The set has been specially designed to match the colors and style of the i8. While it keeps the familiar Louis Vuitton chequered pattern, there’s more than a hint of carbon fiber to the bags’ appearance–echoing the i8’s unique carbon reinforced plastic chassis. The lining too is i8-inspired, with black and electric blue detailing. Leather handles, leather name tags and the exclusive Louis Vuitton padlocks are all included.

The set has been designed specifically to fit in and around the i8’s many luggage compartments and storage spaces. The ‘Weekender GM i8’ piece fits in the trunk and the ‘Garment Bag i8’ slots neatly on the rear parcel shelf. A smaller ‘Weekender GM i8’ piece sits in one of the rear seats, while the ‘Business Case i8’ is shaped to fit the other rear pew. All will be available from selected Louis Vuitton stores worldwide, in cities like Munich, Milan, London, Paris, Moscow, Dubai, New York and Los Angeles, going on sale on April 1, 2014.
