Sydney’s very first Yakitori express store, Qsan, contacted local design firm Morris Selvatico to develop their very first kiosk inside the food court at One Central in Chippendale. With similar food concepts popular in Singapore, the brief was to make this new brand relevant to the youthful food court setting opposite one of Sydney’s largest universities.

The design teamed opted for solid timber dowel cladding to the counter to reflect the wooden skewers used in the cooking process. A combination of tiles, white Corian and perforated metal were used to form the remainder of the structure. The bright yellow from the Qsan logo was used internally to create a ‘pop-out’ effect from the clean and crisp white kiosk exterior. All internal walls, light fittings and ceiling troughs were finished in the same yellow to allow the kiosk to glow. Custom made herb pots add a playful touch to reflect the essence of the brand.
