Maybe you’ve had a bad day at work. Perhaps you’re in Copenhagen on holiday, and overdone it on the sightseeing. It could be that you need a hair of the dog that bit you, or simply that you’re a raging alcoholic*. Whatever ails you, Lidkoeb, in an apothecary building dating back to 1864, is sure to have the cure, especially if the cure is Scotch.

Lidkoeb is arranged over three floors of… somehow describing it as Scandi cool seems like stating the bloody obvious considering it’s in Denmark, but we aren’t above that sort of thing when the occasion warrants. The ground floor is definitely the cosiest; a log fire crackles away invitingly under an original wooden beam, with Børge Mogensen’s Spanish Chairs designed in 1958 laid out on a herringbone brick hearth.

Animal skins are draped over the backs of the brown leather booths, and the windows are pretty special, big arches filled with original cast iron frames. Barstools are from Space CPH‘s Spine collection for Fredericia Furniture. The middle floor is dedicated to cocktails, while the upper floor is a darker affair where the whisky is displayed in vintage bottles and the bar is a more industrial place to perch.
