A mobile speaker inspired by the old school ghettoblasters of the 1980s. Made from Cardboard and flat packed as a DIY kit. Our German engineered audio technology delivers powerful sound to your smartphone … no matter if iPhone, iPod, Android phone or windows phone.

Welcome to the new Old School! The Berlin Boombox is designed by Berlin-based designer Axel Pfaender. He decided it was time for a cool and fun mobile speaker … a soundsystem you want to show off, like back in the days. A fresh approach to the design of mobile speakers. Bringing together the classic boombox style with today’s audio technology. The bold graphic black and white design makes the Berlin Boombox a real eye-catcher.

The Berlin Boombox is for everyone! It works with every smartphone* and mp3 player, because it connects to your device’s headphone jack. *including: iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 3GS, iPod, Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy SIII, Nokia Lumia, HTC One, Huawei Ascend, Google Nexus 4, Moto X … You can also connect your laptop, computer, tablet, phablet, gaming console, turntable or even your vintage gameboy.

The Berlin Boombox comes as a kit consisting of a die-cut cardboard structure and all electronic parts. Assembly is easy, glue-free, tool-free and takes only a couple of minutes. The Berlin Boombox is made from the best available corrugated cardboard. It features a strong carrying handle and a beautiful aluminum knob for power and volume control. All parts are designed with a dedication to detail and manufactured with greatest possible level of precision. The speakers and amplifier are German engineered by our partner MIVOC Pro. We have put a lot of effort into the cardboard construction to achieve the best possible sound experience.

The Berlin Boombox is made of recycled cardboard* and can itself be recycled. It only contains a small portion of plastic and electronic waste. With the packaging we also avoid unnecessary shrink-wrapping, plastic materials and the like. *Brown colorway: 100% recycled cardboard. Other colors: partially recycled cardboard.

The lightweight and flat packaging means less energy is used for shipping. Our class D amplifier is very energy-efficent, too: 3 AA batteries will give you 200 hours of music. All design, screen-printing and production of the cardboard case is done locally in Berlin. Packaging and logistics are done by Mosaik, a sheltered workshop in Berlin.

The modular kit concept of the Berlin Boombox lets us send only the necessary replacement parts to our customers who can replave them themselves. This saves everyone money, nerves and energy. We are sure that the Berlin Boombox is the most eco-friendly powered stereo speaker on the market.
