A.R.E. Awards – Department Store – Outstanding Merit

Ceiling elements following the building’s structural grid provide orientation, while geometrical patterns reflect specific areas of the store. Traditional Turkish patterns combined with sculptural elements from Venetian plaster provide a modern interpretation of traditional arches. Flooring patterns were designed to frame categories, while columns appear to float from the ceiling. A monumental staircase creates impact and connects customers to two floors, with a bookshop and comfortable seating located midway between to invite lingering. Elegant yet warm furnishings, fixtures and visuals create a luxurious ambiance, with art pieces scattered throughout to provide an element of surprise.
