Urban dining ‘The Mallang-Mallang’ is fusion restaurant in Cheong-dam. Cheong-dam in Seoul became the center of variety trend as this area has well-connected transportation, and luxury street was formed. And there were all different kinds of people. We think its spatial identity must be differentiated from neighborhood commercial center it’s in a place like this, this space attracts the eyes as we painted the steel round bar with cream color and drew repeatedly Scandinavia simple pattern. Our design here puts more stress on feeling of conviviality in here.

It needs something like an eye catching design because almost people uses their car instead of walking due to the nature of this street. So we are arranged a repeating pattern that is simple, and wrote in text that the restaurant seek concept on the exterior walls. Overscaled lighting hang down from the ceiling in the main zone facing out to the street. The lighting was crafted using the our (‘Friend’s Design’) own ornament, it can decrease the board feeling of the space.

Some internal structures of house shape are designed to entice or intrigue people with lighting. The internal structures were crafted out of steel instead of wood. It stands out clearly feeling of modern, edgy, and urban feel. And the space have unity as we are using one color only. Also, we separated space through the structures, so arbitrary space can communication to the space people can feel comfortable and cozy.

We form another pattern into red-brick that is rough and old on the interior walls. It breaks the monotony of space. The patterns that it painted on exterior walls are using the interior floor, and it will have unity of space and become the accent of this restaurant. We wanted to provide more services through new interior designs and to make customers continue to visit this space.
