April 26th, 2014 by retail design blog

Exenia is a company recently born from a group of people with a long experience in the lighting industry, despite its young age, Exenia sinks its roots in 1950, in a Florentine company called Cerva, who developed the concept of creating a shapely mix among design, materials and finishing. In 1998 Cerva in agreement with Targetti Sankey S.p.a. founded Esedra, who kept on the tradition of the previous company, combining it with new trends and new production methods.

After reached targets like 24 million euro of turnover and 95 employees, at the end of 2009 Esedra was merged into Targetti Sankey, and most of the staff was considered a «duplicate» and hence expendable. None the less some of this people thought to have still something to say in the lighting field and regardless the hard times decided to start with a new company.
