Mulberry flagship store by Universal Design Studio, Singapore

July 27th, 2014 by retail design blog

Mulberry’s first Asian flagship, on Singapore’s renowned Orchard Road shopping strip, sees a continuum of Universal Design Studio’s retail concept for the brand. The notion of contrast and duality is manifested across a series of spaces. On the ground floor, an open, informal zone populated with sculptural forms and dynamic merchandise displays is set against a more secluded, luxurious area at back. A nod to the English drawing room, this carpeted, formally arranged environment features rich tones and handcrafted pieces of display furniture.

The interior scheme supports Mulberry’s great heritage of craftsmanship. A tactile, limestone-tiled staircase has a handcrafted curved oak and brass rail, and a textured polished plaster wall features a relief pattern derived from traditional English timber-framed houses. The brass motif is used throughout the store as an homage to one of Mulberry’s signature materials.
