Aesop may have closed down its inaugural store in Adelaide, but a brand new one has opened instead. Situated on the ground floor of the historic Tavistock building, a late 19th-century structure built in Victorian style, the shop features a contrasting modern interior by local practice Genesin Studio. The design heightens a sense of openness through white walls adorned simply with product shelves crafted from solid timber and blackened steel rods.

Blonde Tasmanian oak is the dominant element here, captured in counters and flooring. Adding an elegant edge to the abundant natural palette are counters inlaid with antique green marble, and which correspond colourwise with strategically placed potted ferns. A downright raw counterpoint appears in the form of a makeshift side table, crafted from imperfectly stacked concrete disks. The new Aesop store carries the brand’s full range of skin, body and hair care products.
