Alper Gündüz, the Turkish designer, born in Ankara, is one of the two winners of HIM, the international competition launched in August by Formabilio, the Italian Design brand of eco-friendly furniture and home accessories. The projects submitted are conceived by designers from all over the world through online contests, chosen by a community of design lovers, manufactured by small companies of the Made in Italy and available online on the e-commerce platform formabilio.com.

The contest aim was to design furniture inspired by male universe! This is the character of Big Foot, the project designed by Alper Gündüz. Big Foot is a masculine stool with big feet. Other than being a stool, as “Seat” is not the only function of this stool, Big Foot will spice up everybody life with humor. It conceived for cheerful and playful people.

A project that fully reflects the philosophy of Alper Gündüz, that took a degree in the Department of Architecture, Gazi University. His designs are featured in many national and international design competitions. He was awarded the prestigious “Emerging Product Designer of The Year” in 2010 and the “Product Designer of the Year” in 2013 by the International Design Awards. The motto “without romanticism, rationalism would not exist” from Ziya Tanalı, is what Alper Gündüz most identifies with. “For me, design isn’t different to music, poetry or architecture. It influences you. It contains intelligence and sensibility”, said Gündüz – “Formabilio is an association that has been designed intelligently. This togetherness may enrich our life and may become an opportunity for us to make it even more beautiful”.

Big Foot, winner of the contest together with Fudo, a chair designed by Raffaele Bonadies from Italy, has been chosen among 205 projects submitted to the contest. Voted by a community of design lovers, it has been selected by a technical commission composed by the representatives of the partner companies of Formabilio: Ivo Fontana mobili, Euroline Furniture, Live in, Artelight, Effediemme and Fratelli Poli.
