Besides six new projects the experiential exhibition of PRECIOSA Lighting on Designblok’14 featured the unique luminaries from BOA Design studio called Rings which atracted us during the visit. This Rings project is based on pure geometric shapes. The fixture consists of five slightly tapered cylinders that fit together and give the appearance of several concentric circles. Its elongation and subsequent suspension creates a simple shape divided by horizontal lines.

Authors describe the project: “The Rings collection was designed for PRECIOSA Lighting based on its long tradition of glass craftsmanship and crystal cutting. Our goal was to connect the traditional craft with a new approach to shaping glass.”

Studio consists of designers Michaela Vrátníková and Peter Mikošek. Both authors have worked together on projects for industrial production in the field of fashion, interior, graphic and product design. At the same time under the brand BOA created a limited collection of fashion and interior accessories. Most designs are realized in small batches. The main objective of the original shape and above all quality workmanship. Among the major awards authors include national award for design of light Startreck for the company OMS (Slovakia) and subsequently in 2012 the prestigious RED DOT design award for design stands.
