TAMPA, Florida (June 2, 2014) – Today api(+), a leader in retail architecture and design located in Tampa, Florida, announced its prototype concept for Earl of Sandwich, and that the first location under the new design is now open in St. Petersburg, Florida.

api(+) partnered with Planet Hollywood, Earl of Sandwich’s parent company, to develop a 1,500-square-foot suburban prototype to facilitate and promote franchise growth. The primary goal was to standardize decor and equipment for a recognizable branded look for future stores and to increase customer frequency. The new prototype reflects the founding family’s connections to British royalty and the origination of the sandwich in an energizing, modern way that showcases the product and makes it easier for franchisees to build new stores while controlling development costs. api(+)’s differentiated design highlights the product while proclaiming Earl of Sandwich’s core message “we invented the sandwich.”

“The founding family’s connection to British royalty presented a unique opportunity to tell Earl of Sandwich’s history and the story of how the sandwich was invented through design and wall graphics.” said Juan Romero, AIA, NCARB president and CEO of api(+).
