api(+), a multidisciplinary retail design firm located in Tampa, Florida¬¬¬ partnered with McCaffrey’s Food Markets’ to develop their newest concept, Simply Fresh. Simply Fresh is a 13,500-square-foot urban gourmet store now open in a restored 1928 industrial deco building in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

api(+) worked with the McCaffrey’s team to remodel the historic building, which was once home to a Ford dealership. The design emphasizes the building’s historic charm, original structure and classic details. Exposed steel trusses, restored wood ceilings, rugged brick and polished concrete frame a masterful merchandising program and a dynamic shopping experience.

“Retrofitting a historic building poses unique challenges but, more importantly, presents an opportunity to recycle classic older structures.” said Juan Romero, AIA, NCARB president and CEO of api(+).

The store celebrated its grand opening in April 2016. It features an array of prepared foods including a crepe station, sushi and sandwiches, as well as a cheese island, a coffee bar, in-store dining, and an abundant selection of gourmet and organic foods.
