SGS Bridgehead Headquarters by Marks Design Belfast, Hull – UK

July 7th, 2016 by retail design blog

Marks 3D team in Belfast have developed the 16,000sq ft Headquarters of SGS Europe, in the Bridgehead development near Hull. Marks wanted to design a unique workplace so when you walk through the door, you don’t just observe a nice space, you feel inspired – you instinctively know it’s a creative place to work.

Taking design cues from the woodland environment around the office, solid ash can be seen throughout the building, whether it’s lining the walls or bordering the generous internal sliding doors and windows. The front desk was crafted from large planks of ash and like many of the other original features, it sets the scene for what’s to come.

A lowered ceiling above the boardroom table focuses the attention and the room can be subtly separated with a large curtain, which of course adds to the theatrics. Unlike ordinary board rooms, this space is multifunctional and with a mix of formal and informal touches, it has the flexibility to be used all the time, by anyone. It’s the delicate mix of design and practicality that makes this the perfect office space.
