Reclaimed wood continues onto the white pegboard ceiling, exhibiting the use of familiar materials used in unconventional ways. Yellow accents have been incorporated to break up the natural tones and provide punch to the light fixtures and furniture.

The goal is to design a hotel which itself will flirt with tourists, and a place welcomes tourists to tease at each other. The hotel is located in Binjiang District, Hangzhou, and within the trade area of Avenue of Stars.

The aesthetic comprises of walls and flooring clad in travertine, and paired with pillars covered in various contrasting shades of marble. Sleek black metal shelving line the walls on both floors, paired with furniture pieces by iconic designers such as Mies van der Rohe and Franco Albini.

Atelier Krikos Office by Studio Ardete Pvt Ltd, Punjab – India

The entrance to the office is defined by a nine feet by six feet wide pivoted metal door, designed in a composition of tapering metal pipes. The Reception area features an installation designed parametrically using 1500 circular rods hanging in an organic wave structure from the ceiling.

The use of classic materials, basic in their most natural state, has given us that touch of warmth and authenticity, but by means of a twist in its use and application, we have managed to give the space a modern air. The layered construction of different materials has led to warm textures contrasting with flat and geometric patterns.

The pavilion Moorhüttli on the main street Dorfstrasse in Wengen that was built in 1903 is taking over a temporary task before its complete refurbishment: the slightly skew building will become an attractive Concept Store with a premium offer for tourists, chalet owners and locals.

Threads are droopily suspended across the back wall and front window of the store, mimicking the form of a hammock. Mexican studio Taller Tornel handcrafted the sink and cash desk from concrete, leaving a ribbed finish. Meanwhile, products are displayed on driftwood-like tables, as well as wall-mounted shelves.

The finish materials are neutral, airy, elegant and timeless, and are reminiscent of the Mediterranean Sea seen from all windows. The focal point near the entrance is the Heritage Wall that captures the firm’s history and achievements.

The open kitchen and bakery enticed customers with the smell of fresh baked goods and lively atmosphere. The floor plan went through numerous layouts to maintain visual interest, maximize seating count, and support operational function.
