TAIYOU&C. is a brand launched by the design studio Mikiya Kobayashi in 2016. The story begins by the time I was working at an interior architecture office. Indeed, I was already wondering about furnitures suited for contract projects I was working on. Today TAIYOU&C. pursue and make this reflection a reality. Furnitures and chairs in particular that we conceived for spaces such as hospitals, offices or buildings’ halls respond to specific and essential standards: First, they are shaped to fit harmoniously in the space, even when a numerous amount is arranged. Also, they are easy to use. Not only they are comfortable to seat in but also easy to stand up from. And of course, they are stackable.

We are working with wood for its soothing properties makes it a perfect material within our stressful time. Of course good contracts’ furniture can only become a long-lasting partner for a home use. TAIYOU is the Japanese word for “Sun”. Sun is something very little noticed in our daily life. Yet, it is something vital for every human being. This ideal relationship, shouldn’t it be the same one linking humans and furniture? TAIYOU&C.’s furniture is discrete while supporting people’s daily life and activities from their back. To do so, deep insights regarding human behaviors are necessary for designers: How do we live? How do we work? We believe that it is essential element for good furniture.

Also, we brought particular attention to atmosphere where furniture is put in. Thanks to our experimented design team, we believe that TAIYOU&C.’s furniture will bring you comfort and practicality but also happiness to you. Its back rest is a functional structure round shaped that supports the user’s body on a low level of his back. The circle shape of the seat allows a multiplicity of seating direction. Round is a compact and light chair that can be stacked up to 7 unities. This chair, in its original simplicity enables a familiar and convenient use and therefore embodies the symbol of TAIYOU&C.’s philosophy.

This table design is about lightness, imaging a floating wooden board. A thin slit in the middle of the table is meant to be use for office devices’ electric wires. Wood grain is enhanced by the large surfaces: 6 sizes are available from 1400 mm to 2400mm. Shapes and colors are conceived to match with the collection’s chairs and stools. Personal size order is also available. The round shaped seat and the 4 legs are surrounded by the arm part and the back rest of the chair. “KEYSTONE” come from its structure, centered on the seat part.

Every parts of the chair are fixed on a side of the seat which becomes the essential piece of the construction. Its strong personality does not prevent it from being stackable. It is a stackable stool with a clover shaped seat part available in trefoil and four-leaf lover shapes as well as in a lower hight version for children. A field of stools, mixing both clovers invite us to a fun chase of happiness. TAIYOU&C.’s policy is to work with talented designers able to instill their personality within a simple shape and a product inviting a familiar use.
