With the recent explosion of cider into the craft category, Somerset cidermaker Thatchers commissioned Cookchick Design to define a market positioning, personality and brand name for a range of historical cider recipes. Lee Cook Director at Cook Chick Design comments: “We drew inspiration from a very rich family heritage to create the new cider brand from Thatchers.”

“Stan, as the second generation Thatcher, was the first true cider crafter so we felt it fitting that the range carried his name. Stan’s love of crafting different blends saw him line up barrels of his cider in a converted Dovecote at Myrtle Farm ready for the locals to come and enjoy. He was a true West country character that loved to share a pint or three with his fellow farmers and villagers. The new packaging for Stan’s celebrates the tradition of how cider used to be served… straight from the barrel”.

Cook Chick have also expanded the idea into a personable launch campaign, ‘Meet the Man’, using wood cut illustrations of Stan across a number of touch points, bringing Stan – the man – to life.
