“Hangop”, the name of a café designed by Overtreders W, translates to “hang up” and at the same time, is a dessert originating from the Netherlands. The name is the concept, and this has been applied to the pared back interior which in turn, has provided a neutral background for the installation of an overhead rail that visually connects the two rooms of the café together.

With a low budget, Overtreders W upcycled the furniture seen within the eatery. The second hand tables and chairs, the walls, floor, bar and stage were all painted in a vibrant orange by volunteers from the local arts center. An upper platform provides an alternative and more casual seating option. Painted in orange, the criss-crossing rail system adds a playful and vibrant element to the interior, while serving as the lighting, provides ledges for plants and also hooks to hang ingredients over the bar.
