The biggest mall in The Netherlands is working and building to become even bigger. To soothe this transition, an esthetic oasis of light is created, that directs the foot traffic in a powerful, yet pleasant way!

Hoog Catharijne, the biggest mall in the Netherlands, is working and building to become even bigger. A challenge during this renovation is to maintain the foot traffic to some of the key locations. Hoog Catharijne asked the Experience Architects from WINK to smoothen this transition.

WINK created a serene oasis of light to stimulate the way to key locations as McDonald’s and MediaMarkt. Existing light tubes were placed in a V-line, making it work in two directions.

To create dynamics, graphic elements and people were added on the walls, which are in the same shape and line of the light tubes. All giving the audience clear directions towards the temporary passage.
