Anvil hotel, Jackson – Wyoming

To most city slickers, the great outdoors merely is a romanticized concept of nature’s splendour, but clearly, they’ve yet to discover the allure of of Wyoming’s pristine and rugged scenery to understand it’s also very much a reality. It’s in Jackson, a lively mountain town on the outskirts of this northwestern state, where the newly opened Anvil hotel offers boutique hospitality with urban comfort and cool design, and all a stone’s throw away from the scenic landscapes of both Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park. It occupies one and two-storey buildings originally constructed in the 1950s as a motel, and now meticulously redesigned by New York city-based Studio Tack.

The property is situated smack in the middle of town, featuring 49 beautifully designed Guestrooms and a matching set of facilities that both take cues from the rustic environs. Against a backdrop of wood paneling and brass fixtures, rooms are furnished with custom metal beds which are layered with custom woolrich blankets, in addition to custom benches and side tables and dark kilims. Obviously, the bathrooms are similarly style-infused, featuring raw brass fixtures, overhead rain showera, and bath products from C.O. Bigelow. The hotel lobby, conceived as a hybrid of a café and mercantile, is a welcoming setting, featuring cozy seating and a wood burning stove, integrated with a store, curated by Outdoor Boutique Westerlind in New York City.

In addition to beautifully packaged provisions, the lobby offers freshly baked treats from local bakery Persephone and have partnered with local Snake River Roasting Company to create custom coffee blends. Adding to Anvil hotel’s lifestyle concept is Glorietta Trattoria, its restaurant which is located a short stroll away on glenwood street. Homey and welcoming, featuriung naturally finished materials with simple tiles surrounding a large wood-burning grill in the middle. Helmed by chef Troy Furuta, the diner serves italian-inspired seasonal dishes, in addition to a variety of wines, cocktails and other beverages.
