Yunita Lim Bride & Couture is a fashion designer gallery focusing on wedding gown couture, located in a row of shophouses complex in Medan, Indonesia. With two shophouses joined into one, the design intent was to move on from the typical shophouses layout. Brief from client was able to accommodate as many gowns as possible. Two separate consultation areas, one for first visitor consultation, another for visitor fitting in area with two big fitting room. These are compulsory.

Open layout and full transparency allows passing by visitors to view inside activity from the outside. Going inside the store, visitors are welcome by gowns placed in a curve partition, which lead to the guest area and a big mirror. Product placement were designed in a way to blur the typical shophouses layout and creates an interacting activity. This partition also serves as a boundary between public and private space.

By placing the fitting in area and fitting room behind, visitors are able to determine the boundary between private and public without having a physical boundary. Material usage inside the space were limited to three colors, majority white, light grey and nude.

These are intent to not obstruct the color quality of the products. Through careful composition, the ordinary shophouses layout are transformed into a seamless journey with that allows moments of chance encounter, of pause discussion and informal conversation.
