The packaging had to be as eco-friendly as possible. The biggest challenge was to design the packaging that’s easy to assemble but without any glue and plastic, which at the same time serves as a fun giftwrap and a practical protection of the product. Also we had to find a recycled paper that’s good enough in terms of quality and durability, and the colors with eco-certificates.

Our bottle design is a replica of a vintage bottle shape first designed by Beatson, Clark and Co in the late 1890. Beatson Clark has been manufacturing glass since 1751, in the 1860s they began to develop a reputation for fine pharmaceutical glassware.

The product name “Madhukara” is from a Sanskrit word, where Madhu means honey or sweet. It suggests mystery and an exotic feel. To further expand the idea of premium, I chose a glass bottle of a rounded base and narrow opening, in the look of a potion bottle, like a magic syrup. The play of wood, etching, die cut gives the sense of delicacy and rawness to it.
