Novacolor Stand at Farbe Ausbau & Fassade 2016 by Cristiano Bonesso+Partners, Munich – Germany

The decision to make large panels with decorative finishes, and support them by three large walls is aimed to invite the visitor to touch and pull over different surfaces and materials, involving them in the Novacolor stand dynamism.

The organization of the fair asked A&B Project to design a space for hall 6 where visitors are welcomed at Brussels by Night and can enjoy a drink in an atmospheric and cozy place. Inspired by architectural elements, the bar and reception area are constructed with angled wooden slats, creating different shapes of surfaces, yet form an open and dynamic whole. Some surfaces are closed with semi-transparent canvas, creating privacy for the visitors.

The structure seems to revolve around the centre of the stand. This “hub” becomes the natural location for the reception area and event space. Indeed, characterised by the apparent weightlessness of the large panels that give the stand its free sense of form, this central space feels like a sort of contemporary agora.

Like being in a life-size anagram. Many products with many different uses and little available space lead to a solution involving an abstract installation echoing different domestic and commercial spaces.

Across an area of almost 500 square metres, we explored the question: what role does the classic office play in our rapidly changing work world? While the fair exhibitors presented finished products and concepts, our role at the ORGATEC was that of interrogator.

A great attention has been paid to the bar area, with hand-made decorations and soft, precious furniture that encourage visitors to take a break from the show, enhancing the idea of hospitality. The graphic palette, simply played on the tones of black and off-white, guarantees the highest emphasis to the product design.

The success of the entire project hinged on installation. As such, Unibox sent a technical team to the Expo to personally install the wall as the profiles had to be connected in a particular order to get the shape of the wave correct.

In the center of the stand is a central table, with playful arrangements of wooden blocks. The stand layout and construction is based on EURO pallets, giving the premium brand Parador an approachable and contemporary feel.
