HIRSCH is to introduce a new jewellery collection including uncut, rough and multi-colored diamonds presented in materials such as oxidized iron, carbon fiber, silver, white gold and gold. So the exhilarating task was to create furniture to exhibit such small charismatic commodities like diamonds in jewellery.
Collection of seemingly abstract objects. They resemble odd creatures but serve for specific purposes. In fact, it’s a cleverly designed system. The basic structure is always the same – a freestanding frame consisting of a ring supported on four legs. This is completed by set of different attachments that turn the frame into different functional objects.
The fluid geometric form is articulated as a series of alternating CNC milled birch plywood ribs. The frosted storage Perspex storage elements are internally illuminated with LED’s to gently articulate the floating boxes within the fluid field of curved ribs. With a strict budget, this project was an exercise in realizing complex geometries with limited finances.
